Courses Taught

Public Speaking and Speechwriting

This course seeks to equip participants with knowledge and skills that can be useful in areas of communication that require speaking publicly to an audience. Its major premise is that a speech, or public address, is a moment of significance in an ongoing discourse. Although it allows the speaker an uninterrupted period of information transfer, it is the result of dialogue, should promote interaction and result in joint action. It is therefore a means of communication ヨ an interactive transference of meaning between individuals. The course promotes the concept that public speaking has a special role in advocacy as a means of garnering support by sharing information that will make audiences think, feel and do.
